Description

For years, the EG4 3000EHV-48 V2 inverter has been tested and proven to be an incredibly reliable unit for its size and cost. This inverter is the ideal unit for beginners to grow with, as its PV input and 48V battery bank compatibility is the same as the highest quality and most capable inverters on the market. The high-end specs mean that as your needs increase, not only can you parallel up to 12 units for a 36kW system, but you are also not forever stuck building the system around this particular inverter.

Pairing this inverter with an EG4 battery is seamless and convenient thanks to well-refined closed-loop communication protocols that send battery voltage, current and SOC% (state of charge) directly to the inverter. In addition to the required communication cables, the inverter also comes with a battery disconnect circuit breaker, as well as a complete set of cables with pre-crimped terminals for connecting the batteries. The built-in LCD screen grants access for programming operating parameters without the need for internet access or a special app.

Multiple modes of operation are selectable that can prioritize renewable sources differently depending on your application. Refer to page 18 of the manual, setting 01 for additional info:

  • SBU – First use solar, then battery, leaving the source connected to AC input (such as grid) as a last resort – Ideal for reducing grid-usage
  • SUB – Use solar first, then AC input, reserving battery in case solar is insufficient and the AC input (such as a utility company) is unavailable – ideal for emergency backup while still utilizing your solar system the rest of the time
  • UTL – Use AC input (utility or generator) first, then solar, then battery – ideal for an off-grid situation where you may want to run a generator and fully utilize its capability while running

When using EG4 batteries, additional control is granted to the above modes of operation; you can program a setpoint for switching to and from AC input based on battery SOC%. This is particularly useful in SBU mode to reserve energy in case utility is lost and independent operation is required, or if you don’t want to completely top-off your battery with utility so that renewable sources can finish the job.

1 review for EG4 3000EHV 48V Off-Grid Inverter, Charger & 500V MPPT Controller

I just received the Eg4 3000 inverter. I haven’t mounted it yet, but that is for a reason. Current Connected has the dimensions listed incorrectly, and the place I was going to mount this unit will need to be modified, since the unit is actually 5.5″ from the wall to the front of the unit, not the 4.1″ listed on their site, or in the Eg4 spec. sheet on this unit. I have a door that needs a specific amount of clearance to open properly, and now this unit will cause an issue with that door, and I can’t put the unit in another spot so…..this should be fixed on the site and in the spec. sheet. I’ll still give it a 5 star review, for now, because this isn’t really an issue with the unit.

Thank you for the feedback! We reached out to EG4 on this issue, and they have updated the spec sheet to reflect this change. We apologize for the inconvenience! If there is anything further we can assist with, please let us know and we will be happy to help.
